Event Report: One Young World x OIST Spring Camp in Okinawa 🪸

Updated: May 4

This spring, we had the wonderful opportunity and experience to be a part of a Spring Camp hosted by One Young World (OYW) and the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) as a One Young World Ambassador and a member of the organizing committee!

The Camp was held on the beautiful and cutting edge OIST campus in Onna Village, Okinawa, and the camp was centered around the theme of sustainability and entrepreneurship.

The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University is a graduate university located in Okinawa, Japan, and is a world-class research institution in the fields of science and technology.

30 high school students spent the week learning about different environmental issues such as coral conservation, and worked together to create solutions for the local community in Onna Village to thrive sustainably.

I am extremely grateful and happy to have met and worked with amazing high school students from all over Japan and Okinawa, my OYW teammates, the OIST staff and researchers, and everyone who was involved in creating this camp!

One message I hope the students would bring home is that individuals have an immense power to make a positive difference and impact on people, the community, and the world. Keep going! 💫
